Hall Talks
This season we had a varied schedule of talks including, “Guide Dogs UK” by Sheila Marshall; “The Business of Writing Romance” by Ella Hayes; “Paldies & Pliskies: A lifetime in Scots” by Irene McFarlane; “RSPB Loch Leven” by Vicky Turnbull and “Kinross-shire: Then & Now, A Photo Journey” By Kevin Heneghan. Thank you to all the speakers, audience, and everyone involved in setting up the hall and serving refreshments.
We are now on the hunt for speakers for next season’s schedule, so if you have a an interesting topic you would like to share with us or know anyone else who might, please get in touch by emailing carnbohall@gmail.com
Coffee & Chat
The Coffee & Chat events have continued to be a successful addition to our calendar. It was lovely to see such a mix of age groups socialising and enjoying delicious treats together. Thank you to all the bakers and the setting up & tidying up helpers. We hope to start these running again from October of this year.
Warmer Spaces
The Hall Talks and Coffee and Chat events were part of the “Warm Welcome Spaces” initiative. We applied to PKC for funding which helped pay for running costs of these events which made them more financially viable.
Children’s Christmas Party
We had lots of children attend our annual Children’s Christmas Tree party, enjoying party food, Christmas crafts, games, a Christmas story under the tree, plus a special visit from Santa. It was lovely to welcome new families and we hope to see them at future events. A very big thank you to Claire for organising, Emma & Lisa for helping with the games, John Anderson for the outside tree, “HAPPY in Perth & Kinross” for the lovely wreath and the committee for refreshments and hall set up.
Hogmanay at the Hall
Thank you to everyone who came along to Hogmanay at the Hall. As the photos and videos on our FB page show we brought the new year in in style! Quiz, food, lots of Ceilidh and Disco dancing too! A big thank you to Rab for piping in the NY! The food this year was a buffet purchased using the Iceland voucher we won as runners up in the Eden Project friendliest village competition.
Book Swap Station
The Book Swap Station continues to be popular with our regular users. It is open to anyone in the community and hall users. Free to bring a book and swap it or choose a book without a swap for £1 donation.
Festive Sing-a-Long
Thank you to Emma Hutchinson for leading us at the festive singalong and Claire Mason on the piano! Also thank you to everyone for coming along! Following lots of positive feedback this may become a new annual tradition.
Carnbo Hall Refurbishment Project
We are continually trying to maintain and improve the hall facilities and applying for grants to cover this. In December we upgraded the loft insulation thanks to the successful award of a £2000 grant from the Kinross Newsletter. Hopefully, this will help reduce our energy costs!
We have also successfully secured grants for £2000 from the PKC Community Investment Fund and £3000 from the Kinross-shire Fund which will be used as part funding for the repair to the East gable of the Hall, which is badly damaged causing water penetration into the kitchen. Quotes for this work are in excess of £5000. Hopefully, this work should be carried out in the next few months.
We have upgraded our audio visual equipment thanks to the prize money from the Eden projects competition last year. We have installed a bigger and higher spec TV, and PA system with 4 speakers.
Soup Saturday
Thank you to everyone who came along on the 27th January to our Soup Saturday and all the helpers! We made over £200 and the money will again go towards repairing the hall’s East gable wall.
Carnbo Table Tennis
Due to their successful promotion , new sponsorship and setting up an academy, the Carnbo TTC have moved to larger premises. We thank them for using the hall to originally set up their club and wish them every success! They are now called “J&K Carnbo Tullibody TTC” and you can follow their progress at:

Keep Carnbo Clean and Colourful
Thankyou to everyone who came along to the “Carnbo Clean Up” on Saturday 10th February. We had 16 volunteers and managed to collect rubbish, tidy pavements and verges the whole length from the bridge at the west end right up to the hall! The rain even stopped for us! Your help was greatly appreciated. I think everyone will agree the footpath looks great and is now much more safely accessible for walkers, joggers, dog walkers and prams users.
To make the hall look colourful over the summer, donations of spare seedlings or bedding plants for the hall beds will be gratefully received.
Carnbo Hall AGM
The Hall’s AGM will be on Wednesday 22nd May at 7:30pm , followed by complimentary cheese and wine. We are hoping for a better turnout than last year, which was very disheartening for the committee. So if you can, please come along and support your local community asset, owned and run by those living in the Carnbo and District Community. We are hoping to diversify our committee with the inclusion of younger members. If you would be interested in joining us please get in touch.
Pizza Via
We are excited to announce that the Pizza Via van will be visiting Carnbo Hall on Thursday 30th May. https://www.facebook.com/pizzaviascotland/?locale=en_GB More information of how to order your Pizza nearer the time. A minimum number of orders is required to make it worth her while, so please support this if you can.
Summer BBQs
The first Sunday during the summer months we organise BBQs at the hall. We will provide the BBQ (BBQ lit from 5pm– please note the new time!). People bring their own BBQ food (or a picnic), drink, crockery, and cutlery etc. This is a great way to meet up with neighbours and friends. Let’s hope the sun shines! This year’s dates will be:
2nd June – Duck Race @4pm BBQ @5pm
7th July – BBQ @5pm
4th August -BBQ @5pm
1st September- BBQ @5pm
Hall Bookings
Rates are £10 per hour for members and regular user organisations.
£12 per hour for non – members.
Please contact Claire Mason on 07917319003 or e-mail: carnbohall@gmail.com with “Bookings” as the subject.
If you know anyone looking for a venue for a group or private party, please recommend Carnbo Hall to them! We are still struggling to get regular user bookings since Covid, which means our income to cover running costs is greatly reduced. It would be great to get a few more regular users, especially an exercise class, back in the hall.
